4-H Club

"Head, Heart, Hands and Health."

Those are the four "H's" of a 4-H Club. As part of a 4-H Club, a member will pledge their Head to clearer thinking, their Heart to greater loyalty, their Hands to larger service, and their Health to better living.

Here at New Genesis, our club has used those principles to develop and carry out our first group project: a community vegetable garden. Our garden is hand planted, hand watered, and hand picked. The hard working gardeners range in age from 5 to 19 years of age and also range in gardening experience from none to a little experience with family gardens.

The goal of this project is to develop new skills and knowledge, be active leaders and team players, and contribute to the surrounding community. There is a three-fold vision for the produce that comes out of our garden: one third goes to local food banks for families in need, one third to develop our student entrepreneurial skills through farm stands, and one third for nutrition education and enjoyment.
